Saliva can help by neutralizing these acids,\nbut if you are having too many of these foods or beverage, your teeth won\u2019t\nstand a chance against it. It will eventually wear away over time. Here are\nsome other reasons why enamel erosion can occur:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Teeth grinding (bruxism)<\/li><li>Chronic acid reflux<\/li><li>Low salivary flow<\/li><li>Using certain medications\n     regularly, like antihistamines and aspirin<\/li><li>Eating disorders, like\n     bulimia<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Is Enamel Erosion So Harmful?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When you have eroded enamel, you are much more likely to\nexperience other oral health issues as a result. This is because the sensitive\nlayers of the teeth are being exposed to destructive substances. Here are some\nof the many symptoms that are more likely to occur:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Increased sensitivity<\/li><li>Cracks and chips<\/li><li>Discoloration<\/li><li>Indentations or \u201ccups\u201d on\n     the surface of your teeth<\/li><li>Increased tooth decay<\/li><li>Rough edges on the teeth<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Ultimately, enamel wear means that you could have oral pain,\ntooth loss, infection, and gum disease!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Can Enamel Wear Be Prevented?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though enamel cannot grow back, when it is week, it can\nstill be saved in a process known as remineralization. At this time, the minerals\nin the enamel are replaced in order to strengthen. The easiest way to do this\nis by using dental products that contain fluoride. You should also be consuming\nfoods that are high in calcium, like dairy products.
