When it comes to what Dr. Okonedo enjoys most about being a dentist, the answer is easy – she loves leaving patients healthier and happier by the end of their visits! With nearly five years of experience in the dental field so far (and hopefully many more to come), she’s more than capable of providing reliable, high-quality care that goes the extra mile for your entire family. If you’d like to learn more about her, just keep reading below.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Okonedo always knew that she wanted to work in the healthcare field. This was partly due to her mother’s influence, who is still a nurse to this day. The summer before college, she shadowed different medical professionals during her free time, and the experience she had at a local dentist’s office was by far her favorite. Helping people escape dental pain and achieve more confident smiles while incorporating aspects of art and science seemed like the perfect career for her, and she couldn’t have been more accurate.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Okonedo is originally from Maryland, and she attended the University of Maryland at College Park for her undergraduate degree. She then entered into their School of Dentistry (which is actually the first dental school in the world) to complete her dental doctorate. Today, she is constantly taking continuing education courses from top organizations like SPEAR Education in order to further her knowledge and clinical talents. She is also a member of the Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Okonedo’s family currently lives in the DC/Baltimore area, and she is the lucky middle child with two brothers. When she isn’t busy at work, her favorite hobbies include spending quality time with her two dogs and other loved ones, reading, watching movies, going shopping, and traveling. She’s always up for trying something he’s never done before!
