For Dr. Kou, there’s nothing quite like being able to help patients escape dental pain and smile with newfound comfort and confidence. Interested in learning more about him? Just keep reading below.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Kou hails from a family that’s very much entrenched in the healthcare field, featuring lots of doctors and dentists. He has various relatives who work in oral healthcare specifically, including both of his parents and various uncles, aunts, and cousins. His brother also just became a dentist in 2019! As for Dr. Kou himself, he’s always had a knack for science and is pretty good with his hands, so dentistry just felt like the right path forward for him as well. Today, he couldn’t imagine having any other job.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After completing his undergraduate degree at Le Moyne College, Dr. Kou achieved his doctorate at SUNY Buffalo in New York. He’s also attended a General Practice Residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH and is certified in IV Conscious Sedation, ACLS, PALS, and BLS. He is currently a member of the Academy of General Dentistry.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Born and raised in the suburbs of Toronto, ON, Dr. Kou moved to the US at the tender age of 18. After far too many years of frigid winters in the North, he and his wife Karen decided to move to Texas, settling in the DFW area, and they’re still very happy with that decision. In his spare time, he enjoys watching movies, playing video and board games, exercising, and doing adventurous activities outdoors like snowboarding, swimming, and riding rollercoasters. He is a die-hard chicken wing lover as well – the spicier, the better!
