Information?

Dentures are remarkable prosthetic devices that have allowed countless patients to replace their lost teeth with beautiful and functional restorations, and modern models are so comfortable that many patients forget they are there. However, it’s perfectly reasonable for a potential denture patient to be curious about how much these appliances can cost. Here’s a quick look at a few factors that play significant roles in how dentures are priced.
How Big Is the Denture?
Each denture is completely customized to replace several, many, or all of a patient’s teeth, and the right type of denture for you depends on your situation. For example, a person who is missing one or a few teeth throughout their mouth may need a small partial denture whereas a person who is missing many teeth may need a large partial and an individual missing an entire arch will need a full denture. Appliances that replace more teeth are more expensive because they are larger and require more time, material, and labor to craft.
Do You Need Preliminary Procedures?
Many patients will need to receive restorative work before they can receive dentures. Placing a new set of dentures on infected gums can agitate the irritated and inflamed tissue, which can worsen the illness and lead to unpleasant oral and overall health consequences. Treatments like gum disease therapy, dental fillings, and root canals can address these issues so the dentures can be worn safely and comfortably, and the cost of these will be noted on the bill. However, these procedures may be at least partially covered by insurance.
Are You Receiving Dental Implants?
Traditional dentures can be a great way to restore a smile, but they will have to be replaced every few years and restore only about 20% of the patient’s original chewing power. Anchoring your appliance to a set of dental implants, on the other hand, can restore up to 80% of your chewing power, help your appliance last much longer, and stimulate your jaw to protect it from atrophy. While implant dentures are more costly than traditional appliances, they may save the patient money in the long run by reducing the frequency with which their restorations must be replaced.
Each denture is unique, so the price of one appliance can vary significantly from that of another. During your consultation, your dentist will be happy to provide you with a proper cost estimate for your restoration.
